Looking to precedents of dress patterns which democratize and make accessible complex geometric constructions, Instant Assemblies begins with flexible materials and domestic fasteners which can be patterned in the home and assembled onsite in an instant. An assembly of individuals and materials that can gather and disperse.
The zip assembles a double-layered vault shell into a rigid volume with a wood veneer inner and flexible polypropylene outer.
The squirt reveals the messy layers of adhesive in standard construction. Sheets of hook-side clear velcro are adhered with a spool of yarn.
The frit expands from graphic to structure. A pattern of velcro dots laminates plies of clear flexible plastic into a hybrid between vault and waffle grid.
